I have been looking forward to sharing this Perry House Wedding in Monterey for quite some time. Even before the wedding took place, I knew this blog here to tell the story of Marisol and Matt was going to be a great one to write about!
Monterey Wedding Photographer
Hey! My name is Dana and I am a Monterey wedding photographer who loves serving down-to-earth, fun, and joyful couples getting married here in California. Since 2018, I have photographed weddings in Virginia, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and California. I love what I do so much, because getting to be part of a wedding day brings me such happiness and fulfillment.
This Perry House Wedding blog is all about Marisol and Matt, and I cannot wait to tell you about how they met!
About the couple
Personally I love a good story of how two people came together. When Marisol. Matt, and I had a consultation, they told me they met at a collage party. What they did not tell me was the condition of the house that Matt was staying at with his college bros. The conditions of his bedroom were questionable since there was mold every where! And you know that they were meant to be and that Marisol was the one true love for Matt when she saw the conditions of the house and didn’t run. In fact, she fit right in because they all shared a love for beer, food, and sports. It was during this time that Matt knew he had found the girl he was going to marry one day.
Now, as a couple they are living their best life in Denver. Their goals are to start a family, raise many dogs, and continue to enjoy nature with hiking and exploring!
Perry House Wedding
As a preferred wedding photographer for The Perry House, I always enjoy coming here to shoot weddings. Each wedding so far has been a bit different. For example, Marisol and Matt changed up their wedding ceremony spot with a different location for it than most weddings I have done in the past. I personally loved this layout because the light was nice and even! Plus, with mixing up the angle, you have a perfect way to show off Monterey Bay and the House for different backdrops.
During cocktail hour, which was done upstairs, the team flipped the ceremony space into a reception. Marisol did most of the planning and her vision and hard work paid off! This was the first time I saw a long table displayed at the perry house. I loved seeing the table center pieces come together, because it looked amazing!
Wedding Reception
Throughout the evening, my team and I got to really get to know each guests. Whether from college, family friend, and other connections, it was so great hearing about these two and happy everyone was for them! Especially since it took Matt a long time to pop the question!
When it came time for the festivities of the evening, I was so impressed with the speeches, the cake cutting idea I had, and the first dances.
The cousin of Marisol gave a speech and she won the DWD best speech award. She talked about how their love is the same as some major parts of history. For example, Rome was not built in a day, it took over 1,000 years. Which is probably how long it felt for Marisol to get asked to be his wife. But, over that long period of time, something incredible was being made- an ever lasting love.
The best man talked about their college days, their moldy dorm rooms and how Marisol never once left his side. In fact, she stayed put and connected with the boys to form a life-long friendship.
For the cake, I decided it would be a good idea to change things up. Originally, the background was the bar/the kitchen door that was open. I loved the guests and how joyful they were. So I turned the cake around, told them to all gather behind the couple, and captured the cake cutting with everyone attending!
Perry House Wedding
It was such a pleasure getting to know these two, and serve them on their incredible day. I am so grateful they hired me as their photographer and I can’t wait to see the love between these two continue to grow.
