A favorite Carmel Valley wedding venue as a Carmel Valley Wedding Photographer is Bernardus Lodge. Maybe it’s because of the beautiful garden or the great views of the hills. But, there is just something about this wedding venue and luxury stay that I love and will always be happy to return and shoot a wedding at.

Hey! My name is Dana, and I am a wedding photographer for Carmel and Monterey, CA. When I moved here at the end of 2020, I had yet to learn what The Bay Area would do for my business. Coming from Virginia, I was still determining what to expect. However, my business boomed when I moved here, and I am so grateful! The incredible vendors I get to collab and work with, and the venues truly are like nothing I have seen here in other states I have photographed weddings in. It is my favorite area! Bernardus Lodge is a wedding venue that deserves praise for many reasons.
Carmel Valley Wedding Venue
One of my first “second shooting” gigs was at Bernardus Lodge, and since that wedding in early 2021, it has become a dream to photograph a wedding there. So, when Golden Coast Planning reached out to me and asked about my services for this couple, I was thrilled! The couple was a destination couple from Texas, and they wanted a small and intimate wedding with only twenty-something of their close friends and family.
The loved the ideas of the garden, photos in the lavender field area, and hosting a brunch under the floral arches with the hills behind them. The weather was perfect, with mostly cloudy skies and a peek of the sun every so often. Aside from a light drizzle, I could not have asked for a better day for this couple.
Most couples will have their wedding in the Rose Garden and then convert it for the reception. This is because the spectacular views can fit up to 150 guests. When you have your wedding here, you have a great view of the hills during your ceremony, are close to all the perfect photo locations (and if you get a suite, it’s right around the corner), and have everything in one spot, which is a bonus for convenience.
Why Carmel Valley
I know that there are many places in California to have a wedding. But Carmel Valley has been noted as one of the best spots to have a wedding. This is not factual, but not only vendors but also couples very strongly suggest it! Whether it is because of the lovely weather, the views, or being close to Monterey and Carmel-By-The-Sea.
Many couples get married in the Valley, especially at Bernardus, because they want an experience unlike others for their guests. Couples want luxury and romance, a place to have memories made, and convenience. This is why many have a wedding in the valley, and Bernardus Lodge is always a top choice!
