A Wedding Reception at The Perry House in Monterey

October 23, 2025

I'm Dana

A Jacksonville, Florida based destination wedding photographer here to capture full wedding weekends for couples getting married in Florida, or those who are having a wedding in France.

When Dan and Kirsten decided to host a wedding reception at The Perry House, they wanted it to feel effortless and full of joy. They were already married, but they dreamed of gathering their favorite people for an unforgettable evening in Monterey. Friends arrived from San Francisco, New York, and Washington DC. Family members traveled from both coasts to celebrate with them. The result was a destination celebration filled with laughter, energy, and love.

Getting Ready at The Portola Hotel

The morning began at The Portola Hotel, where excitement filled the air. Kirsten got ready with her bridal party in matching blue pajamas while music played softly in the background. I brought donuts from Monterey Donuts for everyone, which added a fun and sweet touch to the morning.

The First Look at Friendship Plaza

Before heading to the venue, Dan and Kirsten shared a first look at Friendship Plaza. The moment felt peaceful and full of anticipation. They met in college and connected instantly, so this quiet pause before the party reflected their deep connection. They laughed, admired each other, and took a moment to be present before the celebration began.

Dan surprised Kirsten with a pearl bracelet from Vivienne Westwood, while she gave him a classic watch from the same designer. It was a thoughtful exchange that showed how deeply they care for each other.

The wedding reception at The Perry House was everything they had hoped for. It was elegant, lively, and full of personality. Guests entered the courtyard where white linens and white chairs surrounded each table. The floral arrangements from Flor De Monterey were stunning. Each table featured peach, coral, orange, and soft pastel blooms that brightened the evening light.

Family style tables encouraged conversation and togetherness. String lights created a soft glow above the guests as the night unfolded. It felt warm and inviting from start to finish.

Details That Told Their Story

Kirsten’s Hera Couture gown was timeless and modern. The simple lines and delicate fabric looked amazing in the Monterey sunlight. Her Jimmy Choo lace heels added a soft, romantic touch.

When it was time to dance, Kirsten changed into a short sequin mini dress from Easy Tiger. The dress shimmered under the lights and told a playful love story through its beaded designs. Phrases like “Match Made in Heaven” and “Till Death Do Us Party” added the perfect mix of humor and romance. It was fun, unexpected, and so perfectly her — the ideal look for a bride ready to celebrate the night away.

A Joyful Wedding Reception of Music and Dancing

After dinner, DNA Entertainment filled the main hall with music that kept everyone on their feet. Friends from across the country filled the dance floor, celebrating with pure happiness. The laughter and joy never stopped.

Dan and Kirsten danced together, surrounded by their friends. They smiled, held hands, and took in the moment. It was a beautiful reminder that love is best celebrated with the people who know you best. One of the best parts of the night? A very fun cake cutting! Kirsten and Dan cut a vintage heart-shaped cake. When they fed each other, Dan accidentally fed himself with his own fork while Kirsten tried to feed him with her fork. Her reaction was priceless!
