I’m Dana.
I take destination wedding photography seriously. If I’m going to book a flight and travel across the ocean for you, I should probably show you that I know what I’m talking about.

What is the best place to have a destination wedding? This is a question often talked about with couples when planning a destination wedding. There is locations all over the world to get married and host a destination wedding. On this post, I will share with you four countries in Europe I feel should be considered for your destination wedding.

Hey, there! My name is Dana and I am a destination wedding photographer based out of California. As an experienced wedding photographer and world traveler, I have been to some incredible places around the world. Including Korea, Singapore, Spain, Italy, Greece, and France. With this experience, I love sharing my travels and favorite places to visit, and even have a wedding!

Best place to have a destination wedding

First on my list, is The United Kingdom. If you are looking for historic mansions, country-side feels, and lots of greenery, then consider the UK for your wedding. Just a few hours outside the city of London, you will find many wedding venues with an historic charm. De Vere is one of them. With a beautiful garden, great rooms to host your guest, and a dog friendly location, this might be something for you!

Second on the list is Portugal. If it’s one thing I know about Portugal is that they know how to serve their guest. The venue staff at Penha Longa Resort are very welcoming and warm. With this venue, you will get historic charm as well. There are ruins on the property perfect to host an intimate ceremony. For all weddings you have the choice of indoor or outdoor ceremonies or receptions as well. What’s also wonderful is this is only 10 minutes from historic Sintra. Maybe perfect for an excursion?

My third choice (and one of my favorites), is France. Your options to get married in France are endless due to the amount of locations to get married. If you are eloping, then the city of Paris is your ideal location. So many spots to romantically say I do with just the two of you.

You can also host your wedding at places like Chateaus. Which, are located all over the country of France. One of my favorites is Chateau Saint Georges in Grasse, France. About a four hour train ride from Paris, and worth it. You can host one incredible experience for your guest, such as excursions, and spa days.

Last on the list of the best place to have a destination wedding is Greece. One of the most beautiful Islands I have ever been on was Santorini and there, is the famous Rocabella. This Resort, Hotel, and Spa is the perfect location if you are wanting a wedding on an Island in Europe. Voted to have the best sunset in the world, and most delicious food in Greece, you want your guest to experience this Island life.
