Being able to capture these Engagement Photos in Japan for Isabel and her fiancee Amanda has become one of my favorite sessions to date. I absolutely love these two and I am excited to share more about them, as well as some of my favorite images from their engagement session!
Destinations with Dana
Hey, there! My name is Dana and I am a destination wedding photographer currently serving couples in California and Europe. Isabel and Amanda
The military brings everyone together, and many people I know have met their spouses through the military. These two are no different. They met in A-School when training to become hospital corpsmen. They started as friends but had built such a strong connection so that friendship became the foundation for what is now a beautiful relationship.
Amanda told me that she loves Isabel because she accepts Amanda for who she is. Amanda can be herself around Isabel, which is goofy, honest, and fun. To Amanda, Isabel checks all the boxes she would want in a wife someday. Now, when I asked Isabel what she loved most about Amanda, she said she loves that Amanda keeps the relationship strong and happy. That Amanda loves to be open about her feelings and is not afraid to let her know how she is feeling, whether that is happy or sad. She also loves that Amanda sees all sides of Isabel and holds her hand through it all, no matter what.
To me, this is the kind of relationship that inspires other relationships.
When it comes to the future, these two hope to become doctors one day. They want to settle down, start a family with some dogs and kiddos, and just be with each other by living in the moment and being happy with what they have.
Isabel and Amanda are truly two wonderful women that were so incredible to photograph. I was able to really be myself around them, and I loved that they were open to all my ideas. Anyone who is in their life is lucky to have as friends or a family member. They are the type that will always be in your corner for the people they love.
Engagement Photos in Japan
It’s a bonus when the couple who get in front of my camera are Military employees as well. Isabel met her now fiancee in the Navy, and together they serve in Yokosuka, Japan. They found me on the local military spouse page and reached out about engagement photos to celebrate their love for each other!
One thing I take as a compliment is when the couple shows up a bit nervous and unsure of what to expect. Then in the end, they leave happy and feeling so comfortable. Amanda told me at the beginning that she does not like her photos being taken. But, she was doing this for Isabel. However, it was not long into the session that both of them warmed up quickly. It was an incredible time shooting this session at Verny Park just outside the base.
