Micro Wedding France | Three Chateaus Perfect for a Destination Wedding

January 12, 2026

I'm Dana

A Jacksonville, Florida based destination wedding photographer here to capture full wedding weekends for couples getting married in Florida, or those who are having a wedding in France.

A micro wedding France experience offers intimacy, time for connection with your guests, and a more personable/ stress-free type of wedding experience. These celebrations focus on connection. They also allow couples to travel, stay together, and slow down.

This blog features three micro weddings in France. Each location offers on site housing, stunning ceremony spaces, and simple travel access. Together, they show why France is perfect for intimate destination weddings.

All three locations are places I have personally photographed at, whether a real wedding or a styled wedding. I have met the owners, experienced the travel, on-site exploring, and more. Each wedding and styled editorial were also designed around small, intimate weddings, known as micro weddings.

Why Couples Are Choosing a Micro Wedding France Experience

A micro wedding France celebration feels intentional because they spend more time with their guests.
They also enjoy multiple days together in one place. Additionally, many French chateaux offer lodging on site. Where the average guest count can be between 20 people and 40 people. If there is no lodging on site, there is some close by. Easily drivable by taxi or rental car services.

France also has easy train access from Paris. So, when guests land in Paris or Nice, they can easily take a train to these chateaus. Therefore, planning feels less stressful for everyone.

Chateau Saint Jeannet sits just outside Nice. 21 minutes from the airport, and 35 minute drive from downtown old nice. If your guests want to experience Paris, it’s about a 6-hour train ride from Paris into Nice.

On site housing allows guests to stay together. There are 13 bedrooms, each with large beds and private showers. Hotels for extended guests are just a few minutes away.

This venue is ideal for a micro wedding France celebration. The ceremony often takes place outdoors but also does offer coverage for indoor receptions and ceremony if needed. Even with a small and more intimate wedding, the couple can still host welcome dinners by the pool, a brunch on the patio, or even an excursion out in town.

This venue suits couples planning a micro wedding in France. Ceremonies often face the water.
The view creates a natural backdrop that is peaceful. When photographing a wedding here, I loved the sound of nature. It was well shaded and perfect for those who want a summer wedding in a nice area that offers shade.

Chateau Saint Georges

Chateau Saint Georges is located in Grasse. It was the first venue I photographed in Provence, France. I attended a two-day styled shoot/workshop to learn from some of the best photographers, collaborate with French wedding vendors, and capture some amazing images for my portfolio.

This styled shoot shows what a micro wedding in Provence, France can look like. The ceremony setup was simple and thoughtful. Florals highlighted the architecture. There was beautiful nature, plenty of locations on site to have photography done, host your wedding, etc.

The reception designs was indoors. Where there was a cooling system. Something that is much desired for those who have weddings in France during the summer months.

This chateau works well for smaller guest counts. The main chateau alone houses 14 guests, and other villa on site offers multiple style rooms with 12 bedrooms and suites, with some rooms offering two beds.

Guest can enjoy an escape here, relax by the pool, walk in the gardens, and decompress. If you want your guests to enjoy town, private transportation is easy to book to take your guests to Grasse, Nice, or even Cannes.

Is a Micro Wedding in France Right for You?

A micro wedding France celebration suits couples who value time together. It works well for guest counts under fifty. It also fits couples who enjoy travel, love France, and want their wedding investment to go even further.

If you want a destination wedding without overwhelm, this style works well. France offers variety, access, and charm. Most importantly, it allows you to slow down. Something that France values.

Why I Love Photographing in France

As a destination wedding photographer, I love photographing in France. All of my 2025 weddings in France were under 50 people. It was designed around experience, intimacy, and planned to be something amazing for everyone. The couples and their guests loved the travel, the experience, and the joy they felt really showed in the galleries.

Weddings like this is what allows me to give the personable experience. I enjoy building real connections with couples and their guests, and small micro weddings make that easy to do. I can focus on moments instead of managing large timelines.

Most importantly, micro weddings allow couples to celebrate their story. Nothing feels rushed or forced. That is why these weddings matter to me.

If this resonates with you, and you are looking for a Provence Wedding Photographer for your Micro wedding in France, connect with me HERE and I would love to make it all happen for you. Micro wedding Packages for two days of coverage + travel begins at $5,000 USD.
