Monterey Beach Station Wedding

August 31, 2024

I’m Dana.
I take destination wedding photography seriously. If I’m going to book a flight and travel across the ocean for you, I should probably show you that I know what I’m talking about.

When Melissa and Lou first met with me and discussed their vision for their Monterey Beach Station Wedding, I was beyond excited about what they had planned and could not way for the big day!

The Wedding Details

Our first consultation was about getting to know each other and becoming friends before discussing business. The Zoom call lasted about 90 minutes, and we hit it off in that time! I loved learning about their business together (organized receipts), how they have been with each other for TWENTY years, and about their two girls (twins) and two boys. Plus, hearing what they had planned for their wedding details and the day’s timeline.

They started their wedding day getting ready at The Portola, a hotel I recommended because I love the larger suites. There is excellent light for the hair and makeup artists and plenty of room to relax. Plus, it is not far from the Beach Station wedding venue.

What is even better is that the guys can get ready in the room next door. This makes it convenient for vendors and families to go back and forth if needed. Once everyone was ready, we did the first look, family and wedding formals outside behind the hotel. The perfect spot with good light and no foot traffic.

They had a great day planned for their Monterey Beach Station Wedding. From a beach wedding, a S’mores pit, and some great dancing. Plus, a bubble bazooka exit!

Their goal was to keep it relaxed and low-key, fun, and a great day to just party and celebrate being together for twenty years and finally getting married!

In typical Monterey fashion, the day was a mix of warm and chilly, cloudy and sunny. With a soft fog rolling in during golden hour. The weather was still perfect, and everyone gathered on the beach to finally watch these two get married.

For their reception, the colors and the table decor was simple and pretty. I loved the pallet they decided on and the layout they picked for their reception style.

Now, what better way to have a Monterey Beach Station Wedding then to have that “foggy golden hour” on the beach where we took some cute photos of them, and made S’mores!

This was the time of night everyone was looking forward to. Good food, dessert, drinks, and dancing!

This Monterey beach station wedding for Melissa and Louis was perfect for them in every way. They kept it simple, focused on what was important, and had a great time with their friends and family. I was beyond excited to be their photographer and documenting them and their personalities in the way best.
