A few years ago, a dream of mine came true, and I attended a wedding photography retreat at Rocabella Santorini, hosted by AMV Retreats/ AMV Weddings. The wedding planner, Amanda, created editorials for a select few destination wedding photographers to learn and photograph on-site at the venue during all day hours. My experience was marvelous and unforgettable. I am excited to share all about the venue, the styles, and Santorini wedding pictures to help you plan and style your real wedding on the island.
Santorini Wedding Photographer
My name is Dana, and I am the wedding photographer owner at Destinations with Dana. Since 2018, I have photographed real weddings and editorials throughout the United States and several parts of Europe. It has always been a dream of mine to photograph in places like Santorini. The golden hour along the Aegean Sea is a perfect example of why Santorini has one of the best sunsets in the world. Some of my favorite images were captured on Santorini, and to this day, I still share the stories of the couples and the experience for all to see and inspire.
Wedding Ceremony in Santorini
While in Santorini, enjoying the retreat at Rocabella, two ceremony set-ups were modern but elegant. I loved photographing the looks because they were done at two different spots on site. First was the infinity kiosk.
The second location was the next to the infinity pool.
Both are great locations to have a wedding ceremony, and they have beautiful views!

Reception at Rocabella Santorini
The wedding receptions at Rocabella Santorini were perfectly placed and designed to give the guests a destination feel. They were also the best locations to view the golden hour sunset everyone travels to see. Both locations were near the infinity/exclusive pool area, right next to a bar, which is convenient for guests.

Zara and Harry were such a dream to photograph. They are the type of couple I love and aim to always book as my real couples- joyful, playful, and fun! Here are some more of my favorite Santorini wedding pictures. I look at them at sunset.
The second reception design was for the couple Olesia and Charles. This couple was perfect for the type of Santorini wedding vibe for the editorial and fine-art perspective. I loved getting these two in front of my camera and learning more about that side of wedding photography. Their wedding reception was so beautiful!
Rocabella Santorini
The wedding venue and resort, Rocabella Santorini, is about 15 minutes from the airport. Based on my experience, I will always recommend that Rocabella host your wedding day, whether a private elopement with a few close friends or a wedding day with over 100 guests. The rooms are comfortable, making you feel at home with a modern-day cozy feel. Most rooms have great views, and some even have a private hot tub or pool. One of my favorite parts about having a wedding here is that everyone can stay at the Rocabella, depending on the number of guests. It saves you and others time on translation from other locations.
A few other reasons I love Rocabella are the food and the views. Greek cuisine is genuinely like no other. The quality, taste, and techniques the chefs use to create such delicious meals are all mouthwatering and some of the best food I have ever eaten in Greece. And, of course, when it comes to photography on your wedding day, as a Santorini wedding photographer, I love having options on-site to capture beautiful moments for the couples and their guests.
Between the staff and their top-notch customer service, the comfortable feel of the resort, the views, and the location, Rocabella truly is a dream location for your wedding, whether small or big!
Bridal Portraits
Aside from wedding day inspiration, AMV did get a few professional models for us to pose ourselves and get some personal time with each model. This let me create some joyful and enjoyable moments to capture, and I also wanted to share those here! Our models’ names were Chimelle, Masha, and Anastasia (in that order).
Santorini Wedding Pictures
Aside from wedding pictures at the venue, Oia Santorini is one of the most popular places to take wedding photos. You have the blue dome, the windmills, and selective parts of the tourist areas that bring out the actual island feel. Most of the time, it will take around 10-15 minutes to get to these popular sites so that you can have these Santorini wedding pictures done.

Although summer is hectic, you can make it work depending on the timeline and where to go. Most of the time, the tourists visiting the island are respectful of the couple. However, I still recommend booking your wedding day before peak season. This is springtime and early fall (April to May and then the beginning of September through October).
