If you are considering getting married or eloping in Paris, here are some of my favorite Paris Wedding Photos I took to help inspire you! I will also discuss some of my favorite places to elope in Paris.
Why elope in Paris?
As a wedding photographer who photographs real weddings and editorials throughout France, I’ve captured Paris wedding photos in spots that reflect the couple’s personality while still showing off the city’s charm. We are currently in a period where locations for weddings are sought after, showing social media-worthy locations while still keeping it personal. More Generation Z couples are choosing to elope and then host a small gathering or reception with their loved ones.
Paris, France, is one of those locations perfect for eloping. The city is known for its beautiful locations, food, cafes, and romantic feel. Paris is where you have old charm meets modern feel with its style, locations, and experience. You can walk in one section and feel like you are in the 1800s with its architecture. Then, walk into another area filled with small business shopping and street markets.
This is why we love sharing Paris wedding photos and how it’s one of the best cities in the world to elope. Finding a local planner makes it easy to put together your elopement style and location. You can make the day all about you two, without the pressure of family opinions and spending money on unwanted things. In general, you can save thousands if you elope in Paris vs. having an entire wedding ceremony back home in the United States.
Paris Wedding Photos and Locations
Our first favorite location is the Jardin Des Tuileries. I love this spot because it’s a charming garden with statues, florals, and great backdrops with glowing natural light and architecture. You have the Carrousel and the Arc as an option to add to the backdrop—a perfect spot for sunrise elopement and wedding photo locations.
Paris Wedding Photos at The Louvre
Just a few steps away from the garden is the entrance to the Louvre. At sunrise, this is also a great location to capture photos. Between 630am and around 730am, it’s quiet. It provides flexible locations where you can take pictures without many tourists. One of the first spots we love to shoot at is in the corridor. Isn’t this spot stunning?!
A second location is right outside in the courtyard. You have the fountains (sometimes they are on) and the glass pyramids.
If a sunrise elopement is not ideal for you and your spouse, that is okay. I know that not everyone is an early riser (most of the time, I am not). However, you can still elope and have some fantastic moments captured even in the middle of the day. This next set of Paris wedding photos was taken at the Louvre Courtyard around lunchtime. This day was a bit behind due to traffic during the Tour De France, where the end of the tour was in Paris. To say the least, it was chaos. But we made it work!
Pont Alexandre III Bridge
This iconic location is known to have a great view of the Eiffel Tower without being at the tower where it is most busy. Yes, this bridge can get packed with other sessions during the day. However, many great spots on the bridge remain for photo opportunities.
The Favorite/Hidden Gems of Paris
There is a great list if you are looking for more hidden gems or favorite spots. After all, it is Paris.
- Luxembourg Gardens. It can get very packed during the day, but if you are there first time in the morning for an elopement and want photos after, it’s a great spot!
2. Le Marais Courtyards is based in the trendiest part of Paris. However, these courtyards are hidden, quiet, and beautiful.
3. Île de la Cité is the island that hosts Notre Dame. In the morning, you will find it peaceful as you walk along the riverbanks and enjoy the view of the updated and renovated Notre Dame (now open to tours after recovering from a devasting fire).
4. Canal Saint-Martin is filled with colorful Parisian cafes. It’s a perfect spot in Paris that shows its authentic, true atmosphere. You can even rent a boat in the canal for photo opportunities and a nice cruise.
Tips for a great Paris Elopement Experience
- Consider the timing of the year for the elopement. The summertime is always the busiest to have an elopement. So, consider early spring (March through May) or early fall (September through October). Also, ensure you are not limited by events such as The Tour De France.
- Look into hiring a planner and photographer who has experience in the location. Someone who knows locations, timing, etc. will make your experience easier and safer.
- If you want an experience where you can elope but host a nice dinner with your closest loved ones (parents, siblings, and best friends), consider a nice hotel or dinner cruise to host your “reception.” This way, the ceremony is all about you two and your desires, but your family can still be part of the experience.
